Back when I was prepping to cover Shining Force III, the original folks I'd lined up to play along and discuss with me had to drop due to time constraints. Searching for an uberfan to join, I hopped into the Shining Force III Translation Project Discord server and asked around. Immediately, Daniel Frederickson offered to record with me. I invited him to my server where he swiftly made friends with everyone in my tight little community, and over the course of a year we replayed all the games and talked about them for hours.
Daniel was a great husband, father, and friend. He was always positive even up to the end.
Knowing him made me a better person.
In the months before his diagnosis, he supported me emotionally as I lost my father and another friend to different forms of cancer. Even while hospitalized, he was only ever supportive of others.
He fought to the last.
Part of me seizes up typing because this new wound is fresh. But god dammit Daniel, you truly were part of the Shining Force bringing light into the lives of everyone you met.
May you rest now, in peace, and let others take up the fight. Compared to your radiance my friend, my light is faint.
But together we glow brighter than the Sun.
